- In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the instant dry yeast, warm water, and white sugar. Mix the ingredients slightly.2 1/2 teaspoons instant dry yeast, 1 1/2 cups warm water, 2 Tablespoons white sugar
- Cover the bowl with a clean dish towel and let it stand for about 5 minutes to allow the yeast to proof.
- Once the yeast mixture is bubbly and active, add the salt and vegetable oil. Mix well.1 teaspoon salt, 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
- Begin adding the bread flour one cup at a time, ensuring you mix thoroughly between each addition.3 1/2 cups bread flour
- After all the flour has been incorporated, continue to knead the dough for an additional 5 minutes until it reaches the right consistency.
- Lightly flour a clean work surface and roll the dough out until it is approximately 1/4 inch thick.
- Using a pizza cutter, cut the dough into breadsticks that are about 1/2 inch wide.
- Lay the breadsticks out on a lined cookie sheet. Make sure to leave at least 1/4 inch of space between each stick as they will expand while resting and baking.
- Cover the pan with a clean dish towel and let the dough rest and rise in a warm place for 20 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Bake the breadsticks for 10 minutes or until they are golden brown.
- Immediately after removing them from the oven, brush the melted butter over the hot breadsticks and generously coat them with the powdered parmesan cheese.1/4 cup butter, 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
- Serve warm with a side of marinara sauce.Marinara Sauce
Notes
To make the process even smoother, use a stand mixer equipped with a dough hook to handle the kneading. Be careful not to use too much flour on your work surface, as an excess can make the breadsticks tough rather than fluffy.
