  • 3 cloves garlic cloves
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil

Method

Instructions
  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and minced garlic over medium heat, breaking it into crumbles as it browns.
  2. Continue cooking until the beef is no longer pink, then carefully drain the excess grease from the skillet.
  3. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, ground ginger, red pepper flakes, and pepper.
  4. Pour the sauce mixture over the cooked ground beef and stir well to coat all the meat.
  5. Allow the mixture to simmer for 1 to 2 minutes to let the flavors meld and the sauce thicken slightly.
  6. Serve the beef over bowls of hot rice and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

This recipe can also be made with ground chicken or turkey. For best results, use 90% lean ground beef.
