Method
- In a large bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer, combine 1/2 cup of the warm water with the sugar and yeast. Stir gently and let it rest for about 5 minutes until it becomes foamy.1 1/8 tsp active dry yeast, 1 tsp granulated sugar, 3/4 cup warm water
- Add the remaining 1/4 cup of warm water, olive oil, salt, and white vinegar to the yeast mixture.3/4 cup warm water, 1 1/2 Tbsp olive oil, 3/4 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp white vinegar
- Begin mixing on medium-low speed and gradually add the flour. Knead for several minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic (dough should be slightly sticky but not stick to a clean finger).1 1/2 cups bread flour
- Cover the bowl with a dry towel and place it in a warm, draft-free spot. Allow the dough to rest and rise for 1 hour.
- While the dough rises, preheat your oven to 475 degrees F. If you have a pizza stone, place it inside the oven to heat up; otherwise, use an upside-down cookie sheet.
- Gently punch down the risen dough. Place a large piece of parchment paper on your counter and use your hands to spread the dough into a rectangle about 1/3 inch thick.
- In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and minced garlic. Spread this mixture evenly over the dough to the edges, then sprinkle the parmesan and mozzarella cheeses over the top.1 1/2 Tbsp salted butter, 2 cloves garlic, 1/3 cup parmesan cheese, 1 1/4 cups mozzarella cheese
- Carefully transfer the parchment paper with the dough onto the hot pizza stone or cookie sheet. Bake for 8 to 12 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Slice into sticks and serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces.
Notes
Ensure your water is warm (between 105-115 degrees F) to activate the yeast without killing it. For the best cheese pull and texture, use freshly grated mozzarella rather than pre-shredded bagged cheese.
