- Place a large pan over medium-high heat and add the ground beef. Cook the beef until it is browned and no longer pink. Carefully drain any excess fat from the pan.24 ounces lean ground beef

- In a small measuring cup, whisk together the beef broth and cornstarch until smooth. Pour this mixture into the pan with the beef and vegetables. Let it simmer for 1-2 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens and coats the meat.1 cup low sodium beef broth, 1 Tablespoon cornstarch
- Slice your French bread loaf in half lengthwise. Slather the bottom half of the loaf generously with mayonnaise, then layer it with four slices of provolone cheese.1 large French bread loaf, 1/2 cup mayonnaise, 8-12 slices provolone cheese
- Spoon the savory meat and vegetable mixture over the cheese. Layer the remaining slices of provolone cheese on top of the meat.8-12 slices provolone cheese
- Slather the top half of the bread with the remaining mayonnaise and place it on top to close the sandwich.1/2 cup mayonnaise
- Wrap the entire loaf tightly in aluminum foil. Bake in a preheated oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 30-35 minutes.
- Remove from the oven, slice the sandwich into individual portions, and serve immediately while the cheese is gooey and hot.
Notes
To ensure the best results, use ground beef with an 80/20 fat content for the best flavor and moisture. If you are worried about the bread becoming soggy, you can lightly toast the inside of the French bread before adding the mayonnaise and fillings.
