  • 1 package Oreo cookies (14.3 ounce)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 16 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon shortening
  • Valentine's Day sprinkles for decoration

Method
 

  1. Crush the Oreos: Add the package of Oreos into a large ziplock bag. Close tightly and crush. You can use a rolling pin, or simply press down on them until they are fine crumbs. Alternatively, pulse in a food processor until fine.

  2. Mix the base: In a large bowl, combine the crushed Oreos with the softened cream cheese. Mix well until a dough-like consistency is achieved.

  3. Roll the truffles: Roll mixture into 1-inch balls. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment or wax paper.
  4. Chill the truffles: Place baking sheet in the freezer for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
  5. Melt the chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips and shortening. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until completely melted and smooth.

  6. Dip the truffles: Remove truffles from the freezer. One at a time, dip each truffle into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is fully coated. Use a fork or dipping tools to remove any excess chocolate.

  7. Decorate: Immediately sprinkle with your choice of Valentine's Day sprinkles.
