Ingredients
  

For the Base:
  • 1 pound ground turkey or chicken
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
Sauce & Flavor:
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans rinsed and drained
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup water
Toppings (Optional):
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Sour cream
  • Chopped green onions
  • Avocado slices

Method
 

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground turkey or chicken and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes, kidney beans, taco seasoning, and water. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow the flavors to meld.
  4. Spoon the mixture into bowls and top with your favorite toppings, such as shredded cheese, sour cream, green onions, and avocado.
