- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground turkey or chicken and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, kidney beans, taco seasoning, and water. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow the flavors to meld.
- Spoon the mixture into bowls and top with your favorite toppings, such as shredded cheese, sour cream, green onions, and avocado.
