Chocolate Covered Strawberries

  • 1 pound fresh strawberries washed and dried thoroughly
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil optional, for smoother chocolate

Method
 

  1. Wash the strawberries and pat them completely dry. Moisture is the enemy of chocolate adhesion!

  2. In a double boiler or microwave-safe bowl, gently melt the chocolate chips with coconut oil (if using). Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth.
    12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips, 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  3. Hold a strawberry by the stem or leaves. Dip it into the melted chocolate, swirling to coat about ¾ of the way up.

  4. Immediately sprinkle with desired toppings (sprinkles, nuts, etc.) before the chocolate sets.

  5. Place the dipped strawberries on parchment paper and refrigerate for 15-20 minutes, or until the chocolate is firm.
  6. Enjoy your homemade Chocolate Covered Strawberries! They are best enjoyed within a day or two.
