Ingredients

  • 15 oz chili heated
  • 1 can Pillsbury refrigerated classic pizza crust
  • 4 Cheddar cheese sticks
  • 4 all-beef hot dogs
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon parsley flakes

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F. Lightly spray a 9-inch square or an 11x7-inch (2-quart) glass baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Pour the heated chili into the prepared baking dish and spread it out into an even layer. It is important that the chili is already hot before adding the other components.

  3. Unroll the pizza dough and cut it into 4 equal strips.

  4. Prepare the cheese by cutting each Cheddar cheese stick in half lengthwise.

  5. Place one cheese stick half on each side of a hot dog. Wrap a strip of pizza dough around the hot dog and cheese, overlapping slightly in the center to secure it. Repeat this process for all four hot dogs.

  6. Arrange the wrapped hot dogs on top of the bed of hot chili in the baking dish.
  7. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown on top and fully cooked through on the bottom.
  8. While the casserole is baking, place the butter in a small microwavable cup. Microwave on high until melted, then stir in the garlic powder and parsley flakes.
1 tablespoon butter, 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon parsley flakes
  9. Remove the dish from the oven and immediately brush the seasoned butter mixture over the top of each golden-brown dough-wrapped hot dog.
  10. Serve immediately while hot and bubbly.

Notes

Ensure your chili is steaming hot before pouring it into the baking dish to prevent the dough from getting soggy. You can swap the Cheddar cheese sticks for Pepper Jack if you prefer a bit of a kick.
