  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
Cherry Chocolate Kisses
  • 1 cup chopped fresh or frozen cherries thawed if frozen, and patted dry
  • 1 cup Cherry Chocolate Kisses roughly chopped

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.

  6. Gently fold in the chopped cherries and Cherry Chocolate Kisses.

  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each cookie.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers are slightly soft.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
