Ingredients

Cheese Base
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese shredded
Ranch Flavor
  • 1 ounce ranch dressing mix packet
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
Mix-Ins (Optional)
  • 1/4 cup cooked bacon crumbled
  • 1/4 cup green onions chopped
  • 1/4 cup red bell pepper chopped
Coating
  • 1 cup pecans or walnuts chopped

Equipment

  • Large Bowl
  • Plate
  • Plastic Wrap

Method

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, ranch dressing mix, mayonnaise, and sour cream. Mix well until fully combined.
  2. If desired, gently fold in your favorite mix-ins: bacon, green onions, and red bell pepper.
  3. Form the mixture into a ball.
  4. Spread the chopped pecans (or other coating) on a plate. Roll the cheeseball in the nuts until evenly coated.
  5. Wrap the Cheddar Ranch Cheeseball in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld.
  6. Serve chilled with your favorite crackers, pretzels, or vegetables.

Notes

For the best results, ensure your cream cheese is thoroughly softened. This will help create a smooth and creamy texture. Don't skimp on the refrigeration time! Allowing the cheeseball to chill for at least two hours—or even overnight—allows the flavors to fully develop. Feel free to customize those add-ins to suit your taste preferences. If you aren't a fan of bacon, try using cooked, crumbled sausage. You can also add a pinch of garlic powder for an extra layer of seasoning. Be creative while experimenting with the coating as well. Finely crushed pretzels or a mix of dried cranberries and pumpkin seeds can add a lovely twist. And if you’re making this for a party, consider making mini cheeseballs for individual servings.
