Ingredients

  • 1 16.3 oz can Grands! Southern Homestyle Biscuits 8 big biscuits
  • 1 14 oz jar pizza sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning divided
  • 2.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 5 oz pepperoni slices
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes optional

Equipment

  • 9x13-inch casserole dish

Method

  1. Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 375°F. Grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish with non-stick spray or butter.
  2. Prepare the Biscuits: Remove the biscuits from the can and cut each individual biscuit into 8 equal pieces. Ensuring they are cut evenly is key to a consistent texture and even baking.

  3. Layer the Base: Spread the biscuit pieces evenly across the bottom of the prepared 9x13 casserole dish.
  4. Sauce and Season: Pour half of the jar of pizza sauce and half a teaspoon of Italian seasoning over the biscuits. Stir the mixture gently to ensure all biscuit pieces are thoroughly coated with sauce.
1 14 oz jar pizza sauce, 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  5. Add Cheese: Sprinkle approximately 1 cup of the shredded mozzarella cheese over the biscuit mixture and stir again to distribute the cheese throughout the base.
    2.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  6. Top with Remaining Sauce: Pour the remaining pizza sauce evenly over the top of the biscuit and cheese mixture.
1 14 oz jar pizza sauce
  7. Layer Toppings: Top the casserole with the remaining mozzarella cheese. You can use as much as you like for an extra cheesy result. Layer the pepperoni slices across the top.
2.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, 5 oz pepperoni slices
  8. Final Seasoning: Sprinkle the remaining half teaspoon of Italian seasoning and the red pepper flakes (to your desired heat level) over the top of the casserole.
1 tsp Italian seasoning, 1 pinch red pepper flakes
  9. Bake: Place the dish in the oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes. The casserole is ready when the biscuits have puffed up, and the cheese is melted and beginning to turn golden brown.
  10. Serve: Remove from the oven and serve immediately. You can serve it with extra pizza sauce on the side for dipping if desired.

Notes

Use a toothpick to check the center biscuits for doneness; if it comes out clean, the dough is fully cooked. If the cheese browns too quickly before the biscuits are done, loosely tent the dish with aluminum foil.
