BEST Deviled Strawberries

Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound fresh, ripe strawberries
  • 4 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 2 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch sea salt
Optional Toppings
  • cacao nibs
  • chopped pistachios
  • shredded coconut

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Small Spoon or Melon Baller

Method
 

  1. Wash and dry the strawberries.
    1 pound fresh, ripe strawberries
  2. Cut a small portion off the top of each strawberry (stem end only).

  3. Using small spoon or melon baller, carefully scoop out a small well in each strawberry.

  4. In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, honey, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth and creamy.

  5. Fill each strawberry cavity with the cream cheese mixture.

  6. If desired, sprinkle with cacao nibs, chopped pistachios, or shredded coconut.

  7. Serve immediately, or chill for later enjoyment.

Notes

Growing up, my grandmother always had a little "something special" tucked away for dessert – usually something that was secretly healthy disguised by a touch of indulgence. These strawberries remind me of those moments. She'd always use the ripest berries from her garden and somehow elevate them.
