Ingredients
  

Homemade Banana Syrup
  • 1 1/2 medium ripe bananas, sliced
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar substitute such as Swerve®
  • 1/4 cup sugar-free maple-flavored syrup such as Pyure®
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon banana extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon maple extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Latte
  • 1/2 cup hot coffee
  • 1/2 cup hot milk
  • 3 tablespoons homemade banana syrup or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon banana extract
Banana Cream Foam
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon homemade banana syrup
Caramelized Bananas
  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • 1/2 medium banana, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sugar-free maple flavored syrup such as Pyure®

Method
 

  1. Gather all ingredients.
  2. Combine bananas, brown sugar substitute, and maple syrup substitute in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir until sugar has melted. Add water, increase heat, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 12 to 15 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in salt, cinnamon, banana extract, maple extract, and vanilla extract. Use an immersion blender to whip until well combined.

  3. For the banana cream foam, combine cream and banana syrup in a glass and use a frother to beat until foamy.

  4. For caramelized bananas, melt butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Stir in maple-flavored syrup. Arrange banana slices in a single layer in the skillet and cook until golden brown and caramelized, 3 to 5 minutes.

  5. Pour coffee into a mug. Combine banana syrup, banana extract and hot milk in a cup and pour over coffee. Top with banana cream foam and caramelized bananas.

Notes

For an iced version, make all components as listed up through Step 5. For the final step, fill a glass with ice, and add 1/2 cup cold milk and 1/2 cup cold coffee. Top with banana cream foam and caramelized bananas.
