Ingredients
  

For the Apple Roses:
  • 2 large red apples like Honeycrisp or Fuji, thinly sliced
  • 1 lemon juiced
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 cup apricot jam
  • 1/4 cup water
For the Puff Pastry:
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry (14.1 oz), thawed

Method
 

  1. Combine lemon juice, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl. Toss apple slices in the mixture until well coated.

  2. Microwave the apple slices for 2-3 minutes, or until pliable without breaking.

  3. Unfold the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut the puff pastry into 6 equal strips.

  4. Brush each strip of puff pastry with melted butter. Arrange apple slices along one long edge of the pastry, overlapping slightly. Sprinkle with a little more cinnamon, if desired.

  5. Fold the bottom half of the pastry over the apple slices. Gently roll up the strip, starting from one end, creating a rose shape. Pinch the edge to seal.

  6. Place each apple rose in a greased muffin tin.

  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 30-35 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the apples are tender.

  8. While the roses are baking, heat the apricot jam with water in a small saucepan until melted and smooth. Once the roses are out of the oven, brush with the warm apricot glaze.

  9. Let cool slightly before serving.
