  • 1 tablespoon milk optional

Equipment

  • Serrated Knife
  • Skillet or Pan

  2. Pour vegetable oil into a skillet or pan until it is deep enough to fry the sides of the cake. Heat the oil over low-medium heat.

  3. Carefully place the cake cubes into the hot oil. Fry them until they reach a beautiful golden brown color. You can fry just two sides for a softer bite, or fry all sides if you prefer a crispier texture.
  4. As soon as the cubes are golden brown, remove them from the oil and immediately place them into a bowl containing the mixture of cinnamon and sugar. Toss them thoroughly to ensure even coating.
1 cup granulated sugar, 1/4 cup ground cinnamon
  5. For an extra layer of flavor, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk in a small bowl. Drizzle this sweet glaze over the finished bites while they are still warm.
1 cup powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon milk

Notes

Use the Sara Lee brand for the best density to prevent the cake from absorbing too much oil and becoming soggy. Ensure you coat the bites in the cinnamon-sugar mixture immediately after frying so the sugar adheres properly.
