- Set your air fryer to 300 degrees F and allow it to preheat for about 5 minutes.
- Peel the bananas and slice them into rounds approximately 1/4 inch in thickness. Try to keep them uniform so they cook at the same rate.
- In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the avocado oil (or olive oil) and the ground cinnamon until well combined.
- Place the banana slices in a large bowl and pour the cinnamon oil mixture over them. Use a rubber spatula to gently toss the slices until they are evenly coated, taking care not to break the rounds.
- Place the banana slices in the air fryer basket in a single layer. To ensure proper airflow and crispness, do not overlap them; you may need to cook in two batches.
- Cook at 300 degrees F for 25 to 28 minutes. Make sure to flip the slices halfway through the cooking time to ensure even dehydration on both sides.
- Remove the chips from the air fryer and place them on a cooling rack. Let them sit for 5 to 10 minutes; they will continue to firm up and become crispier as they cool.
Notes
The secret to perfect banana chips is slicing them exactly 1/4 inch thick for the best balance between ease of handling and final crunch. Do not skip the cooling phase, as the air-drying process is what creates the final snap.
